35 mm adapter Filter Question

I was wondering if many people use any type of filter over their lens on a 35 mm adapter. I am planning on purchasing a Canon 50mm FD 1.4, but was not planning on using any filter over it. Bad idea?

Not a bad idea at all. You're looking to get as much light as possible coming in from that 1.4, and aside from perhaps a UV filter for protection, I see little point to using a filter on the lens.

UV filter is a good idea

UV filter is a good idea

I have UV filters on all my lenses, both video and still simply because they are cheap and if something hits your lesn it's much cheaper to replace than to get the lens fixes.

Normally a filter won't help you with glare. you need a sunshade or mattebox for that.

and I think it's Swiper No Swiping ;o)

Graduated ND filters are great for out door shoots.

Is the ND filter that is built into the camera good enough?? I still have not yet received my recently purchassed DVX100b and am just trying to prepare a little for shooting before i fool around with it

nono, i men a graded one that s clear o nthe bottom, and dark on the top. it helps keep the sky exposed properly while leaving the rest of the picture intact.
