Ive watched tutorials and read stuff on 32bpc, I just wanna make sure I understand it. Using 32bpc is only useful for color grading if the footage has that much information so HDR footage. Otherwise it would improve motion blurs in composting. It east system resources so it isnt encouraged to be used for every project?

Do have this down?

Not quite.

32bpc would allow better grading on 8bpc source material, even though it's going to end up back at 8bpc for most exports.

Grading in 8bpc would typically introduce a LOT more banding and posterisation as it flowed through the various processes getting rounded up or down to one of only 256 possibilities .

Grading in 32bpc and then bring that back to 8bpc for export would (typically) produce a lot better result than grading in 8bpc alone.
