hello I have some cash and I wanna buy a Mac Pro, do you guys have any links to a reputable Mac reseller with good prices? looking for a quad or eight core. I can buy more ram later on.
I have checked MacMall already, as a matter of fact I showed the their prices to the Apple store people and they were like wow, that's a good deal. you can still get kinda similar prices at the Apple store with the student discount, proof of enrollment required.

Nvidia has a much better rep on the PC side for graphic workstations. I'd be willing to bet it's the same for Mac.

I wonder why does apple only offers ATI cards with the mac pro, any idea if you can use sli cards on it, doesn't it come with PCI xpress slots?

If you go to the Apple Refurbished page on Apple's store site you can get a Mac Pro 8-Core 3.0 Intel Xeon for $2499 and a Mac Pro Quad 2.0 for $1799. These machines come with a full warrantee and I have bought 50 models this way and never had a problem with any of them and a couple of times have gotten more than I paid for in hard drives and ram. We support local newspapers and they all use mac for lay-up and we have sold many machines to lots of companies but we always reformat the hardrive and reinstall the software. I have bought lots of new machines but my personal macs are always from the refurbished site. Take a look and see what you think and good luck.

will def look at the refurb page thanx

About SLI. I saw a power mac on ebay with two nvidia cards but it was an old G5

from the Autodesk site.
"Autodesk Toxik currently does not require any specific hardware, apart from an NVIDIA Quadro FX series graphics adapter. Toxik supports a local "mediacache" per workstation, so feeding it a fast RAID array will scale the uncompressed real-time playback accordingly. Give artists Wacom tablets and 24-inch monitors and you’ll have a very productive studio!"
