Recently, I noticed these 312 Led lights. They seems great. I was not sure that these bi-color led lights were mature enough. But so many friends recommand 312 led light because of its portable and powerful. Z96 is one of my favorite led lights and sometimes, the light is not enough. So I need to look for a new one. I'm also interested in the bi-color one.

Do you have some advise?

I love these LED312 bi-colour panels. Small and portable, runs on inexpensive batteries, a healthy amount of output and so easy to adjust just the right colour.

Oh yes they are very mature. They exhibit excellent decision making skills and are always very responsible:)

Sorry couldn't help myself.

I personally like the lights. They are built fairly well and the CRI is a bit above 85 which is good enough for most uses.

How can it be easy to ”adjust to just the right colour” when the knobs aren’t calibrated and there’s an unavoidable shift in the green/magenta output as you dial between 3200 and 5500 kelvin. To make matters worse, color meters are completely useless when it comes to these type of LEDs because they make their calculation of the color temperature of a light source based on an assumption that the light source has a continuous spectrum – LEDs don’t. Color meter readings of LEDs have been shown to be misleading for both correlated color temperature (CCT) and green/magenta shift because of their discontinuous spectral output. A color meter will not help identify when you have found just the right color.

David, my CL-200A color temp meter reads non-continuous LED output just fine. And for that matter the readings from my color meter II & III correspond to the temp readings and corrective measures that the CL-200A reads.

When using bi-color LED lights I measure the lights, mark settings around the color balance knob, and note any gels that needs to be applied at any given color temp.

It works for me, but hey... I'm not shooting multimillion dollar features, I'm just knocking out TV spots for satisfied clients.

All the Best!

Then again even with their short comings, none of this changes the fact that thousands of people are using LED lights for video work, and will likely continue to do so.

They have some very limited utility in very limited circumstances (no access to power). Other than that they are pretty worthless.

I have probably 60 different lights in my kit, and each one has it's place, including the LEDs.

Hell, many people would consider a balloon light pretty worthless, until they really need one.

No doubt, and I used an LED recently (Key light on the talent's face during a long exterior dolly run down a sidewalk at night). It's worth having one (especially as cheap as the little on camera ones are) for that occasion you need one. They just aren't worth much for your meat and potatoes setups where hot lights are just so superior in every way.

hi guys, thanks for all your inputs. I will have a try for this 312 led light. For the price ,it's worthy it.

I have bought these 312 led lights and use well. 312A is more brighter than 312AS. I have 2 versions of these. It's worthy buying.

Hello friends,
Now I'm using Litepanels Micro-LP. It is good bur it gives a too little light.
I am not an expert of 312 Led lights with dimmable bi-colors. I have just seen this model:

In your opinion is it easy to get the right colour temperature? I make documentaries around the world and quick is better for me. Do you think it will give more light than Micro-LP?
Thanks for some info
