30p

for as long as I have had my camera, I never have shot anything on 30P setting. I might go out today and fool around with it on that setting. When I bring that footage into FCP do I just edit in a regular 29.97 timeline?

How I understand is this. Anything you have on your mini-DV is 29.97 NTSC, no
matter what format you've shot, because that's what you can write on the tape.
Therefore, I'd just capture it as 29.97, first. Then, I'd open up the CinemaTools to
convert it back to 30p. Now, it is ready to be edited on a 30.00 timeline.

Yep, just edit in a regular 29.97 timeline and your fine. No need to do any fancy or special adjustments to make it work.
