30P with 60i inset frame question

i am getting ready to do a dance video and I just got a DVX100b. I cannot find a second one at the price I am looking for so I need to incorporate a second video camera that is native 16:9 60i (Sony HDV-HC1). Is it possible to import the 30P as a "DVX-100b Stretch" as the main image and put a small window in the upper right corner with the Sony's 16:9 60i DV and output the whole thing as a 30p? Or am I just better off to shoot the video in 60i with both cameras? I really would like to have 30p for the final DVD as I have never liked the banding from every other line of information being written that shows up terribly in fast motion dance videos with a black curtain background.

Suggestions and steps would be great. I normally output a QT file that goes to DVD SP for the final markers, chapters and burning.

Thanks!

If you're resizing video, progressive is always better! I'd either try to use a 1/30 exposure on the Sony to sorta force a 30p-like look, or deinterlace the sony footage - lost detail isn't so much of an issue since you're scaling it down as an inset.

I am not sure if the Sony has the 1/30 option. I will need to check. Do you know of a Apple DeInterlace program that works well and is free or not expensive? I have never tried an inset but it seems the only way to give the school owners what they want. It seems my competition out there have been screwing up the videos and not showing enough of what was important or missing a solo because they were filming the other side of the stage. Personally I shoot to a 21 inch monitor and keep my eye on it and the stage as to not miss the action in the proper area. I know it is over kill but that large flat screen really helps to check focus and exposure when the stages are with hotspots.

The de-interlace filter in FCP should do fine... I think its under "Video".

If you are shrinking the image more than 50%, just that operation might blend the frames together enough to prevent interlace artifacts... check it out first... but if not, deinterlacing will take care of it.
