30P at 24P with pull-down

Hi,

I need to mix some footage shot at 24p with some footage shot at 30p and then slowed down to 24p (don't worry, they aren't back-to-back).

- Can I do it on one Vegas 5 timeline or do I need to "pre-render" the 30p at 24p (with 2:3) and load it into a 24P timeline?

- Do I need to tell Vegas to treat the "pre-rendered" 30p differently so it doesn't get "pulled-down" again?

- Is footage shot at 30p and rendered in Vegas at 24p with 2:3) identical to footage shot in the DVX at 24p (besides the 20% slo-mo)?

Sincere TIA,

Re: 30P at 24P with pull-down

You can do it from within the vegas timeline. Edit in a native 24p timeline and drag your 30p footage onto it. right click the clip and select properties, then go down to the bottom and click (dissable resample). Then insert a velocity envelope and set it to exactly 80%. You footage will now play each frame but at 24fps instead of 30. There will be no frame blending, you get pure full frames. I'm pretty sure this is right, but I havn't done it in a while, so give it a try and see if you get the results that you want.

Scharky,

Thanks for the tip, that seems to have done the trick.
