30 second limit for FCP conversion to WMV?

I'm probably making too many changes at once, but I made the change to FCP (from FCE) shortly before moving to an HVX200 and P2 work flow from a DVX100b.

Anyhow, when shooting in 720 30p, I have excellent results and moving the files into FCP is really slick. The problem emerges when I take the stuff to work and try to move it to my PC.

I can convert the MOV exported files to FLV for Web posting using a cheezy conversion utility (Aunsoft, Bigasoft, etc.) but it always squeezes the aspect ratio or eliminates the picutre entirely.

So, I tried using FCP's conversion capabilities to export it as a WMV. It works, but cuts me off at about 30 seconds regardless of the original file length. Am I missing some button somewhere?

Thanks.

As far as the 30 second limit on WMVs - sounds like an unregistered copy of flip4mac's WMV pro. Check your system preferences (green icon at the bottom right).

It's not that I like WMV that much (I don't.) but it seems to work well in an Windows environment. What I REALLY want is a bullet-proof way to get from FCP/MOV to FLV without aspect ratio or other picture related issues. Should I be using something else as an intermediate? I'd think that no intermediate is really better. I can take SD projects, output them as MOV and the conversion with my little utilities works fine. It was the move to HD that put me off.

I'm a little disgusted that Apple puts teasers like that in a program like FCP and doesn't even identify them. Crimeny.

Thanks.

The resolution of your HXV footage is 960x720 squeezed. You need to select anamorphic or 1280x720 when exporting. Now that WME is not longer free my guess is we will be seeing less and less WMV out there.
