30-Second Commercial

I just finished producing a couple of commercials for a client and the ad agency is requesting the spots be dumped to BETA SP for playback. I know that I need to tack a title slate on the front with the ISCI code, but I have a couple questions:

1. How long should the slate be and is their a standard format that I should use for the layout of the slate?
2. Is ther anythign elses that should proceed the spot in addition to the slate? (color bars, etc.)

Thank you in advance.

Ask the agency exactly what they want.

If they don't give you any more info, I'd start your timecode on the tape at 00;58;50;00. Put 1 minute of bars and tone, 8 seconds of slate, 2 seconds of black, your commercial starts at exactly 01;00;00;00 on the tape.

Regarding the slate - put the ISCI code, the name of the advertiser, the name of the ad agency, total running time of the commercial, type of audio tracks (stereo/mono), and date (air dates if the agency requests it). You could also build your slate with the name of your company if you want.

NTSC standard: 30 seconds of black
30 seconds of bars and tone (tone set to 0 db)
10 seconds of slate ( include advertiser, spot name, ISCI number, mono or stereo and TRT)
10 seconds of black
countdown from 10 to 2 with cue tone at 2
2 seconds of black -
spot begins at 2 minutes

Paul is correct with his post.
I had to try and remember back a little, as it's been over 3 years since I have had to pull a Beta SP dub.
Everything we do now is all digital transfer.

All the Best!
