30 Minute video Web Compression

hey guys- fcp 5...what settings should i have to compress my video for the web? any ideas? thanks gents. its about 30 minutes long, i'm hosting it myself- i dont want it to be HUGe.

Are you worried about QT7?

Have you used Compressor? I like the WebDownload... LAN setting.

It does if you use QT7 presets... not so much if it's the QT6 version.

Depending on your machine and the compression, you can expect about 1x-2x realtime to compress.

30 minutes is pretty long for the web, so you're going to be dealing with a fairly large file regardless, but I'd recommend progressive mp4. You could try H.264 if you feel cutting edge enough.

h.264 runs about 20x compression for me on my G4. Don't know why. Compressor2 helps it out a bit more... maybe 10x now. But still.

.mp4 compresses like a charm...

Lighting stinks and I had to do a MESS of correction on it so it looks a bit pixel'd.
