3 lights you use most?

Cool Lights

150 watt cdm fresnel
6x55 fluorescent daylight
4x55 fluorescent daylight

and i have a set of arri tungsten, 1k's, 650's 150's, softboxes and the works, but i like working with daylight much better. Energy efficient, and is the easiest way to work with daylight.

Cool lights "fat boy" in daylight.

edit --

Oh it was 3.

2. China balls.

3. 2 x 2' Cool Lights in daylight (don't know the nickname for this one).

1. Lately my homemade Kino Diva 200s. Same reasons as above, it's nice to work at 5600k with no heat. And I made them for less than $250.00 ea. ;-)
2. Arri 150 fresnel. Combine with the Diva, use the Diva as key and the 150 as a hairlight. With the camera at 5600k preset, the 150 is a nice golden/amber hairlight.
3. Arri 650 through my small Chimera with a 40 degree egg crate is still the "go to" key light. Never gets old.

As soon as Richard ships his new 600 LCD light though, I think that will probably become my new favorite. Can't wait for those.

Lowell Tota w/ Softbox & Nylon Fabric Grid
Lowel Pro-Light Tungsten Focusing Flood Light w/ 4 Leaf Barndoor
Lowel Pro-Light Tungsten Focusing Flood Light w/ Snoot

For interviews, I'm likely using the following:

Lowel/Arri 1k Openface though a small chimera.
Peppers/Arri Fresnel at 150w and 300w for rim/hair/background

PaPa, can you use the 6x55 to light more than, say, a full-body interview/talking head?

Cool Lights 455P (occasionally diffused through a 39x39 Photoflex Light Panel)

Lowel DP

Lowel Pro (with or without a XS Chimera). I have a bunch of these, and I love the little buggers. They may not be "true" fresnels, but they are very light and really do the trick. 250w isn't a lot, but for my style of lighting, it's just enough to give me what I need.

DanHD, Why do you ask? Curiosity? Building your own kit?

I don't exactly understand your question. Can it be used to light more than one individual? Yes.. how far? A few feet. I can use it to light up a room as well. Very practical and efficient light. My most used one by far.

1. Lowel Rifa 88 (usually with CFL bulbs to match daylight)
2. Lowel DP light. Usually bounced for fill into foamcore
3. Lowel Tota (bring up base light level, or as background light.

PaPa,

Sorry for the poorly worded question; it was way late. But you managed to answer it anyway. Thanks!

I do a lot of outside shoots, so my main 3 lights are a 4k Arri Sunray HMI, and 2 1200W Arri Sunray HMIs.

Which lights do you guys find you use the most?

Open face? fresnel? soft box?

Fresnel for sure is used more than any other fixture type out there. (Dedolight make a lensed fixture that works similarly to a fresnel, just better and more focused - but costs a lot more).

Fluro fixtures are very handy.

I like PAR's as well for effect, they are relatively cheap and are generally very easy to direct to a particular area without splashing out everywhere. ALTMAN have a LED PAR light that can change color spectrum with a controller. Pretty handy I thought, but not cheap.
