3.5mm to XLR not working

Hi All
I'm a total noob so be warned.

If I connect my Giant Squid lav to the 3.5mm input on the Tascam DR60(plug-in power), all works fine.

However, if I connect via a VXLR adapter into either of the XLR inputs I get no sound. The input is set to "mic".

Could anyone suggest what I'm doing wrong?

cheers

Yes, they need phantom power. Plug-In power is somewhere around 1.5V. Normal XLR phantom power is 48V. So if you turn on phantom power on the tascam's XLR (I'm assuming it has it), you may fry the mic... so you need some additional power solution.

I wanted to do the same with my Røde SmartLav+ but gave up as it got too complicated and too expensive (it also need a 3.5 TRRS to TRS adapter as it's made to connect to smart phones)

Oh, good find! Problem is I can't find the VXLR+ for sale anywhere. Have you found a place that sells it? And a price?

I called some Rode resellers here in Aust this morning but none had any stock or price.

I'll call Rode on Mon morning and post info.
