3.5mm locking to XLR

I have a COS 11D that I normally use with a Juicedlink Little Darling. I would like to now use it with a SD 633 as well. Would a simple converter 3.5mm to XLR cause any harm to the SD633? I'm concerned that the phantom power on the SD633 might cause a problem.

Thanks

I use a cos11 (wired for lectro) with an XLR adapter phantom powered by a 633 for most the interviews I do. No problems at all.

Remember that the Juicedlink DAR124RX01 provides "plug-in power" of ~5V and the COS11 is wired to expect that voltage.

If you use a "straight through" 3.5mm to XLR adapter (like a Rode VXLR) you will turn your expensive microphone into a useless lump of charcoal. Applying phantom power 48V to any electret mic capsule is the most reliable way of turning it into trash.

OTOH, if you use an adapter (like Rode VXLR+) that converts the 48V phantom power to the ~5V "plug-in power" that the microphone is designed and wired for, you will be just fine. That is most likely what @Movies by Matt is using.

Yes, you must use an XLR Phantom Power adapter like the Rode XLR+, which converts the 48 volt Phantom Pwr. down to the 5 volt bias current (aka, Plug-in Pwr.) the mic needs. The Rode VXLR+ is priced @ around $40usd, which is about the lowest cost one I've seen. Most are $100+, for instance, the Tram TR79 goes for around $180, but I think that has a battery option as well.
