3.0 USB drives

I got suckered into editing a friends 48 hour film project this weekend... I need to get an external hard drive for my 17" mac book... but all the drives where 3.0 usb.. the only firewire one didn't have a fire wire cable.. I'm sure I have one... but since the house is being remodeled... I'm sure its cheaper to buy a cable... that's if I can find one...

using FCP 7... so can you use a 3.0 usb hard drive... did a search.. not much luck... or I'm typing in the wrong info to get the answer I want...
 
If your Mac does not have a USB3 port your experience is going to be very painful. Go with FW, get a new cable.
 
well hopefully the one place that sales apple in town will have one.. they closed early today... guess afraid of the rain storm... lol

just remembered a hard drive in the barn... stored away... so cable is no problem anymore... yippee..
