2x extenders VS prime telephoto

I have the Letus 35 FE and I was wondering what would be better getting a 135mm lens at f3.5 or using a 2x extender on my very fast 50mill f1.4

I know the focal lengths are not exact.

Do they make fast telephoto lenses at a reasonable price?

you will lose 2 stops with a 2x extender which may still be faster than your 135 but not as long.
If you are shooting outside, use the 135, thats my suggestion.

You lose stops... but regardless you should be stopped down pretty far in the first place depending on the shot.

I've used a 1.4x Extender @ Magic Hour on a 135mm 2.8 and it was perfect.
