2nd (cheaper) cam on dvx shoot: what do you use?

I have been thinking about this Panasonic, assuming that a Panasonic consumer model would maybe be a closer match to dvx footage than, say, a Sony:

Apparently it shoots widescreen, which is important as my project is being shot in squeeze. Does anyone have experience with this line or another consumer line with widescreen that looks good enough to be a 2nd cam for cutaway shots?

I got a Panasonic pv-gs250 and I'm using it as a deck for my computer also. Shoot in 60i or get dv-filmmaker.

I have a PV-GS150. It's just about the cheapest 3CCD Panny consumer cam. I recommend you get one of the 3CCD models. BIG difference in color quality. Higher resolution also.

A couple of weeks ago I picked up a Canon a610 still camera for casual point-and-click shooting. The thing takes surprisingly high quality video... 30 fps at 640 x 480 resolution....and you can take up to 1GB (about 9 minutes) at 30fps uninterrupted as an AVI file (only 1 minute at 60fps). I wouldn't really recommend it for professional use, but I've had a lot of fun with it. A few post-production tweaks and this stuff looks good. I do think it's a glimpse of the future--small, portable, and all-digital (no tape capture hassles).

These consumer cameras can be useful in risky (ie. high speed car mount) shots, or in tight quarters. I've taken the GS150 places I could not have taken the DVX.
