I plan on seeing it tommorrow after work.

I'm kind of burned out on zombies right now. I think we can officially say they've saturated the market, so to speak.

Still, I can't pass this one up.

I liked 28 Days Later (except for the crappy third act).

I'm hearing good things about this one though.

Who's seeing it, and what did you think?

u should add a thumb sideways. the first 5 minutes where good then its all downhill from there.

Kind of like the dawn of the dead re-make: great opening, lousy everything else.

Enough good stuff here to recommend. Sometimes a bit too much with the frenetic camerawork. A few times I had no idea what was happening because of it. Characters aren't as memorable as in the first, but the trade off is that you truly don't know who's going to make it through the movie.

a friend of mine a sound designer, said it had a really interesting mix in that there was little to no ambience. it was very silent, all footsteps and clothing and then WHAM! zombie growls.

exactly. i love the shot where the husband is running after the car and they show the neighborhood. after that it can be turned off.

Well, I'd go as far as the entire opening credit sequence, then turn it off. Footage of chaos over Johnny Cash is pretty great. Then after that it can be turned off. For me at least.

SPOILERS

The first 30 minutes of this movie were amazing. The first 10 minutes were classic. The filmmakers had so many great ideas. I thought this was going to be considered an all-time classic. But then they started taking the easy routes. So disappointing. When we find out that Robert Carlyle's wife is still alive? I thought, wow. There was just so much tension thinking what he was going to have to say to her. But then he turns into ****ing Jason Voorhes and spends the rest of the movie surviing firebombs (where everybody else died) and, even though he's a zombie, knowing exactly where his son was. I was so pissed. That opening scene where he leaves his wife though. I thought it was so great. Because in 99 out of 100 other movies, he would've wanted to save her but couldn't. In this movie they actually had the balls to make him do what everybody else really would have done. Left their wife and ran for their lives.

Oh, and the walking through the tunnel with the night-vision gun scope as their only source of light was great too.

I'd give this one a 6.5 out of 10.

Just read this thread and went out to see it. I was pleasantly surprised. Amazing beginning. I agree, the music is great. I wanted to see the beginning again right away. Noticed the sound design, interesting choice. I thought this movie was better than the original. My only issue was that the ending was a bit anti climactic. But I loved the saturated look.

Overall: thumbs up.

As soon as this comes out on DVD I'm going to rent it just to see the beginning!
