276 minute MQ tapes

Anyone out there using the 4.6 hour MQ tapes? I would have occasion for using them, but am leary of them, cause they have to be half as thick as the standard 63 minute tapes.

Are there any known caveats using them?

Finally, has anyone experience trouble switching etween the consumer grades and these? I've heard that the wet/dry lubricant issue is a dead issue now, but am cautious.

Well I was wondering that too. They were listed in my browsing sources as miniDV and It was not clear to me and it seemed incredulous.

Thanks

Hart's right, the 276-minute tapes are the large cassette (as are the 120-minute and 180-minute tapes too).

The longest miniDV tape you can get is 83 minutes, and those are recommended against in the DVX manual.

Thanks Barry, yeah my bad, I knew better, just got excited.

But what about switching from consumer to MQ. Are they both dry lubricant, and interchangeable without running the risk of clogging?

Isn't it strange that they make 83 min tapes and then warn about using them?
