27 Inch 4K Monitor for Editing -- Is it worth it?

Hello,

I am planning on upgrading my 23 Inch 1920x1080 monitor that I use for video editing, to either a 27 Inch 2560 x 1440 or a 27 Inch 4K monitor.

My question is, is there any point in having a 4K monitor at 27 inches? Does it offer any benefit if it's primary usage is going to be for just using something like Adobe Premiere Pro?
Is the benefit to 4K resolution for a monitor, only when you go to bigger sizes? Beyond 27 inches?

I am a bit lost in the marketing hype, so was looking for some real world experience and guidance.

Thank you,

Depends on the purpose I guess and depends on the monitor itself.

A 4K screen will let you see sharps a lot easier however for the sake of having a 4K monitor its not going to offer much advantage unless it's a reference monitor. If it's for straight editing and UI, then it comes down to your preference. That said a 27" will be better for a UI than 23" with the extra real estate. I personally can't imagine having a 27" screen set to 4K resolution. I don't want tiny little words as my eyes aren't fantastic.

I have a Dell 4K 27" monitor next to my 2560x1440 27" iMac and honestly it's hard to tell any difference. That being said, the new UHD monitors aren't all that different price wise.
