25 to 24?

Hey,

Is there any good way to render 25p footage to 24p?
I have tried to change framerate in Vegas from project settings to 23.976 and then change 'use project settings' in render settings..
All motion looks little bit different, but there are "ghost frames" (I dont know right word to describe that effect..).

Then I tried to change from clip's properties -> undersample rate: 23.975 and then render it as 23.976.
This didnt made anymore those "ghost frames", but dropped out few frames randomly every 5sec..

Are there any other way to try it?
Can I capture my footage straight as 24p in Vegas capture?

Never tried it but i think you should test it by have project to 25P and then render in 24P.

I have never had to do this so im not that sure, but if noone else answers to this post im gonna make a test myself.

No, you can't capture as 24p.

However, 25p is generally indistinguishable from 24p. Unless you have a really compelling reason to do it (like, you definitely know you're going to 24 fps film), then don't worry about it -- just stay in 25p.

But if you want to do the conversion to give your 25P homevideo to your american relatives for example.

What the best conversion in vegas for the 25P - 23,97 ? if you dont want blended frames. Just the 4% slow motion.

Project 24P and undersampled rate 23,975 seems like the way to go

Yeah, it looks better than directly rendering 24p. But my footage had those frame drops every 5secs. I dont know why..

I had some footage which looked videoish in 25p and Im trying to get rid off that video motion. When I tried to render 25 -> 23.976 it looked slightly different than that orignal 25p clip, so it has some effect.
I like that 25p's effect to motions, its way nicer than 50i, but still I would like to get that "perfect motion" to my vids..

Its not the 25P thats gives you the videolook, its everything else.

I have over 300 DVD movies in m shelf. All in 25P and that ranges everything from star wars to Once upon a time in the west. And they dont look like video.

Sure 23,976 can look different because some screens have to blend frames to match 60i. And that dont look more like film.

Like I said, unless you're going to film, there's no real reason to do it . . .

But you can try changing your project framerate to 23.976 and slowing the footage by 4%.
