25 KW Ballast

Hi,

1-I am building a DIY fluo light rig for a music video. The hardware store guy has OSRAM OEM ballasts, but the specs says 25 KW. Since I am used to see KHz, I was wondering if someone knows what it means. How fast could I set my shutter with that?

2- Are daylight balanced tungsten lights for fresnels available? (Just like those GE Blue photofloods) Or do I absolutely have to gel those? I saw some affordable fresnels at coolvideolights and I would like to get some of those, but my HVX200 really shines with daylight tubes.

Thanks for any advice!

25KW would normally mean 25 Kilowatts--not likely though. If they did indeed mean 25Khz then thats more then enough for flicker free performance although many today operate at 40 Khz.

As far as I know, there are no daylight balanced tungsten bulbs for tungsten fresnels. Cool Lights response to this was to create the CDM 150 which is not all that much more expensive than a 650w tungsten fresnel (which the CDM 150 is equivalent to). Daylight or tungsten colored bulbs available for this model:
