Greetings-

We just finished the last day of shooting for our music video...Here
is the criteria for post.

1. All footage was shot 24pN (f5)
2. Our NLE will be FCP 4 with color correction/animation in After Effects 6
3. Have not decided how to deliver for projection (mini-DV or DVD)

Questions: You have heard these millions of times...Hang with me please!!
1. How should we capture this footage and what should the settings be for
our FCP timeline?
2. What is the best way to deliver this project for projection? We can run
off a deck or play a DVD...Which would give us higher quality?

Please be as specific and detailed as possible...I sincerely appreciate the feedback!!

Now i'm not the one who should be answering this as i am not 100% sure but seeing as how i've never had any problems doing it this way and none has posted a reply for you in close to 24 hours here is my advice. I always capture as normal dv footage would be- 29.97 NTSC as long as you didn't shoot in 24p Advanced you don't need to use the 2:3:2 remove pulldown setting, and i've always editied in the timeline with the the same/standard setup (29.97) and it has always worked fine when exported to dvd.

that should work for you.

oh and obviously any compressed footage (if needed to fit to dvd) won't look as good as anything uncompressed (straight back to miniDV) so i guess it all depends on the size of your project, and the burn program you would use, DVD Studio Pro's compression through Compressor is much nicer than say iDVD.

Hi,

I have shot on the 24p (f5) mode and am capturing at 29.97 NTSC in FCP, however I am getting etremely wavey lines anywhere there is movement with in the frame of the shot. What do I need to do to fix this? The images don't look bad when playing back through the camera's vcr mode, so I figure this has to be a preferences issue within FCP. Please help me thank you
