24pA problems in Premier 1.5

Ok, so I just got my hands on a HVX to use for a short film, and since I never worked with 24p before I didn't realize that the camera was set to 24pA. When I captured the footage into Premier 1.5, I didn't notice a problem with anything until I went to export.

What I got was jittery footage that looked like it was dropping frames and desperately trying to catch up. Suffice to say, I don't know what to do. To fix the problem and get it ready for internet upload, I exported as a .mov file and exported that with Quicktime 7 Pro...so that works (but I get terrible quality).

My question is, what can I do to fix this in the NLE? I have a wedding that I also shot in the same format, and I'm scared because I can't go back and reshoot in the right setting.

Can anyone help?

Tell us a few more specifics about your shooting and editing. HD or SD? What timeline did you edit on etc. It will be easier to diagnose any problems that way.

We shot in SD, I'm not sure what you mean about the timeline. I used the Premier Pro 24p Standard 48kz preset, and that's about it.

I didn't tweak the settings at all, because I've never edited anything in 24p before, I was used to doing stuff with my sony handycam instead of the HVX.

Premiere 1.5 has an issue removing regular pulldown, but it works fine with advanced pulldown. So using the 24p template in Premiere should have worked, but it didn't. When you open the clips in Premiere, do they read as 23.976 or 29.97? Is it possible the footage was shot using the 24p normal setting?

In the meantime I would download the 30 day trial version of Premiere CS3 and open a COPY of your project in there, and see if it remedies the problem. Adobe fixes their software problems by making you buy the new version.

The clips read 23.976, and were shot in 24pA..that is what the camera said when I was playing it back. I admit to making the mistake of not paying as close attention as I should have before shooting.

I'll download CS3 and see what happens.

Thanks for your help.
