Re: 24pa in FCP 4.0 - lots of problems...

ARGH!

Okay, I'm confused. Moreso because I just shot footage in 24pa, captured with FCP HD's "Advanced Pulldown Removal" and am editing in a 24fps sequence (NOT 23.anything).

Everything looks great. What am I missing?

I do see that my footage all shows 23.98 as the fps, but not knowing the difference I went with defaults for the sequence and that was 24 fps. Didn't have to render anything and everything previews nice and fast in the sequence.

My final product will be intended for online (no worries there) and DVD viewing... am I in for a nasty surprise when I go to DVD since I didn't sequence in 23.something?

Soooo much confusion...

magic,

i just did a production shot on 24pa in a 23.98 timeline in fcp 4.1.1. sent it out to dvd and vhs. 24pa worked flawlessly.

Thanks, Boo. Hearing that makes my day. My new G4 Powerbook is in the FedEX Indianapolis sorting station (online tracking is cool!), and I should have it tomorrow or Thursday. I'll be picking up my FCP upgrade tomorrow or Thursday at a local mac dealer. I'm getting nervous and I hope my experience parallels yours.

i captured 9+ hours of 24pa footage w/ the final project being 3hrs 31 mins. so just give us a holler if you hit any road blocks...
