24pa dvd

Ok, from my understanding 24pa on dvd allows a lower bit rate which allows more info, or a longer video on the dvd. Is the quality really better than 24p normal though?

The reason I ask is because I am shooting a 15 minute promotional dvd this summer with my dvx, and will also have some 60i underwater footage from a PD150. It seems it would be a lot easier to just shoot in 24p normal and have no problems editing in the 60i footage. However, if there is a noticable quality increase on the dvd with 24pa, I could use the nattress(sp?) software to 24p my 60i footage. The space on the DVD isnt a worry since the video is so short.
Thanks,
-Sean

Encoding a 24p DVD allows more space because you are encoding less frames per second...therefore it takes up less room. If your DVD is only going to be 15 minutes you're going to have plenty of space anyway. If I were you, I'd just shoot 24pN so you can easily mix in the 60i footage on a 29.97 time line. Don't worry about the DVD encoding. There's no significance to the quality.
