24pA capturing issues

I have been having problems capturing 24p advanced footage in Final Cut Pro 5.1.2 on an ocasional tape for a while now. As usual I used the advanced pull-down removal pre-set that is included with FCP. After capturing, I found that for some reason Final Cut Pro was setting my field dominance to lower! Because my settings don't match my sequence, FCP is forcing me to render. I've tried switching the field dominance to "none" as it should be normally be, but this doesn't fix the problem. I also tried removing the advanced pull-down after capture, but I get this error message:

Is there anyway to fix this?! I am able to capture small portitions of the tape, but I can't capture the 2-3 minutes in 1 clip that I want.

Ive had that exact problem as well. I used cinema tools to remove the pull down and not FCP.Exported it as a self contained clip And it worked fine in a 24 frame timeline with no rendering.

Wow you are the first person I know of that has had that same problem.

I'll give your suggestion a shot tomorrow. Did you capture in DV NTSC or 23.98 w/advanced pull-down removal (that didn't work)?

If anyone has a solution to this without having to go into Cinema Tools please reply!

yeah i captured with the 23.98 adv. pull down preset. clip played fine in the viewer but it was playing at 29.97. then when i would drop it into the 23.98 timeline it nee ded rendered. i tried trashing my FCP preferences etc. but that didnt seem to help. im on 5.0.4 btw so somethings may have changed with 5.1.2. i did get that exact same error when i tried removing pulldown with in FCP.
