I'm shooting my latest short film in 24pa, but my friend who is shooting a behind the scenes featurette is shooting in 60i (no dvx). What's my best option for putting both on the same DVD?
Do you want to mix those files together in the same particular video? If so, edit the whole thing as 60i.
But if you're doing one file as 24p, and he's doing another one on 60i (which is what it sounds like you're doing) then there's no problem, you can freely intermix those; that's what I did on The DVX DVD -- some segments are 24P, some are 60i. The 24P ones are rendered out as actual 24P MPEGs, the 60i ones are rendered out as 60i. The DVD player is smart enough to know how to play each file.
you said that we can mix 24pa with 60i but just edit as 60i.....
my question is, is it going to play back like 24pa (film feeling that I want)
or is it going to play as 60i ( the video feeling that I don't want....
Both. The 24p segments would still have the film feel, and the 60i segments would look like video. But you could cut them in the same timeline if you wanted to.
