24PA Advanced Pulldown Removal Inconsistencies

Hi everyone,

I'm currently capturing all the footage from about 20 tapes shot on a DVX100B in 24P Advanced, so I've got FCP (v5.0.4) removing advanced pulldown from all of them as they come in.

As anyone who has done this before knows, when you set it to do this, a little line shows up at the bottom of the capture window that says "Removing advanced pulldown from source media." The files end up at 23.98fps.

This is working fine for me in general, but every once in a while, I'll set it to batch capture three or four clips at a time--most of them will display this line about removing advanced pulldown in the capture window, but some don't; curiously, though, they all end up 23.98fps and look fine (no visual glitches, jumpy audio, etc).

Has anyone else had this problem? The first time it happened, I was nervous because it said nothing about removing pulldown, so I figured something went wrong--but the resultant clip ended up being a 23.98fps file. Is it possible that this is just Final Cut acting strange?

Curious to hear what people have to say...

Thanks in advance.

yeah sometimes it doesn't say if it is doing it. most of the time it's cool but i've had it screw up on me before...
