24p workflow for CitiDISK

Against better recommendations, my production company recently bought a CitiDISK HD to use with our HVX. It works marvelously except for one (fairly major) problem: we cannot develop a viable workflow for getting 24p footage. I know the CitiDISK doesn't record 24pn (and neither did the Firestore when we made the purchase) but it should at least record 24p using the pulldown (or advanced pulldown). The drive records the clips fine, but there seems to be no way to remove the pulldown frames. Final Cut Pro reads them as 29.97 and Cinema Tools doesn't detect any marked pulldown frames.

This is such a major problem and I can't find anyone else on these forums who is experiencing the same thing. This leads be to hope that I am an idiot and I just can't figure it out.

If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know.

Well, this is the first positive comment I have heard about the CitiDisk. Which size unit did you purchase?

Meanwhile, I presume that the CitiDisk is recording a QT which you are importing into FCP. I would then use the Tools menu and select Remove Advanced Pulldown. You are recording 720p24, I presume. Also, definitely upgarde to the most recent version of FCP .

I have the 120GB model. I will do some checking on my software settings, but when I got the DVCPRO HD Frame Rate Converter from Panasonic (back when I was only sporting FCP 4.5) it didn't detect any pulldown frames.

The HVX records advanced pulldown in 1080, but only standard pulldown in 720. (You can shoot 720p24n if you have P2 cards, which is awe--wait for it--some.) In either case, I could only get FCP and Cinema Tools to see the footage as 29.97.
