24p weddings, any advise?

Re: 24p weddings, any advise?

Jubal28, What do you mean by day for night? Just so I'm clear on this? :-/

Re: 24p weddings, any advise?

Hi!
Today I shot a baptism and this is what I did. The church was very dark so I didn't think twice. I changed to 50i and gained up to 6db and open Iris. Then changed to 25p outdoors. Later we went to the restaurant and I thought... mmm It's going to be dark. But to my surprise there was enough light for 25p though I have to say I changed shutter speed to 1/25. I tried not to shoot with max tele because light decreases... you know.
The results were quite good, both 50i with 6db (amazing how the gain works!) and in the restaurant 25p.

I think changing 50i to 25p in a video can be a stimulating thing and make the video more pleasant, less heavie... ;-)

Day for night: shooting "night" scenes in bright light (like daylight) and simulating night in post. Obviously, can't do it for a real wedding.

Zab, that's probably good advice, but it won't work for us in NTSC land. 24p and 60i are a lot harder to reconcile.

Yep. DSR-500/570. Not 24P. But native 16:9. Not sure about the switchover to DVX. Hadn't heard that. He wrote a couple of articles for WEVA a while back. Of course, I have since discontinued my "membership" there. He very well might have changed...
