24p vs. 24pa in Premiere Pro 2.0

Please be patient - I have read the other posts, and the DVX Book by Green. Green says on page 36 "if you are going to edit on a 24p timeline, it's better to shoot in 24p advanced. If you're going to edit it on a 60i timeline, it's better to shoot 24p normal."

When I import 24p footage into a 24p project in PP2, Adobe says it treats it as 23.976 fps progressive scan footage, and as a result the timecode is displayed as 24 fps.

Does this mean the PP2 is best (or only) suited for 24p advanced? If I want to shoot 24p, is there a way, and what steps do I take, to edit on a 60i timeline in PP2?

Thanks in advance for any detailed assistance you can provide.

If you open 24p footage in a 24p project, Premiere will remove the pulldown, and you'll end up with 24 frames(23.976). You can shoot 24p or 24pa, with 24p advanced yielding better results. If you open that same footage in a 60i project, Premiere will not remove the pulldown and it will remain 29.97. In this case, the 24p normal footage will have slightly smoother motion. So to edit 24p in a 60i timeline, you just use the NTSC DV preset in Premiere. No manipulation is necessary.

All my love-Kevin
