24p to DVD

I find that when I render out a project from vegas in mpeg-2 and choose the default 24p DVD Arch template the footage is "fuzzy" and doesn't look like 24p.

This happens with 23.976 + 2-3 pulldown and when I change it to 24.000. (field order is progressive, video quality turned all the way up, etc., everything else is untouched.)

Looks best when I select 23.976, BUT I always need to recompress in DVD Arch.

I did a search and did not find an answer as to if I'm doing it "right". I just want my stuff to come out looking the best it can - if you have the time to educate me - what do you pros use and why? Thanks.

The DVD Architext 24p template is optimal. Don't change anything, and definitely don't change the framerate to 24.00.

What do you mean by it being "fuzzy," and what do you mean by it not looking like 24p?

you can't change it to 24 ( well you can & you'll get a fuzzy image) ... if you do then DVDa will re-render the 24 to 23.976 .. also note that it doesn't add pull down it only places in FLAGS so your DVD players knows where to add extra fields ... all film shot at 24fps is transferred to video at 29.97 ( with pull down ) ..remove pull down and the frame rate is 23.976

I shoot the DVX in 24pA (default f6), capture/edit in Vegas, render mpg-2 using the 24p dvd architect template, and everything is beautiful. It's the cleanest workflow I've ever known.
