24p slow mo question...

Ok, I have a customer who has come to me with 24p footage shot on a Panasonic SX900. There is about 20 seconds of footage that I need to slowdown in editing to about half speed or slower. I do not want it to have a choppy look to it however... Does anyone have any ideas on how to slow this segment down without getting that 24p slowmo stutter you typically get? I was thinking perhaps there is a way to duplicate every frame and then slow it down, would that work? Anyone have any ideas?

Your best bet would be Twixtor or AE's Timewarp plugin. Either way, the solution won't look too good, there just aren't enough frames of information.

Ah, hell... if you don't have Shake, you need to get it. At $499 it is an incredible bargain.

The new FCP Studio 2 has the optic flow retiming from Shake built into motion. Takes a buttload of time to process, but there you go.

I still dont have FCS2 - just coming out in Japan. But thats great to know. I recently sold my copy of shake due to the fact I dont want to invest the time to learn it right now - low priority on the list.
