24p shot at 1/60th Shutter

I'm filming a heated argument tomorrow, something pretty intense. I was curious if upping my shutter to 1/60th would give the argument a more intense feeling because the blur will be cut a little bit. Has anyone tried this?

I'm also planning on shooting it at a slightly low angle to give each character a more towering feeling and make things seem more abrupt and intense.

Any tips? Or will 1/48th standard be just fine. I know both would work but is there anything I should know?

No, there aren't any specific things that you should be aware of, outside the aesthetic results of the decisions you make. I personally don't see much of an advantage shooting at 1/60th over 1/48th, I notice the effect around 1/100, though that may be too much if you are just wanting something subtle. This also depends a lot on your camera movements, whether it will be handheld, on sticks, dolly, etc. Obviously if you are handheld even the 1/60th speed will have a little more of a noticeable "stutter".

I agree- 1/60th shutter @ 24p (144 degree) wont get you that much an edge over motion blur- it will be very subtle. If you want a bit more intensity, I would suggest 1/96th shutter (90 degree)- And if you really want that Saving Private Ryan look, go for something like 1/196th shutter (44 degree). Just make sure you really want it because it cant be fixed later on. ; )

Just throwing this out there since it seems appropriate for this thread... but whenever I shoot with an adapter, I feel like 1/60 shutter is the equivalent to naked hvx at 1/48. I get the impression that because of the spinning ground glass, my image is coming in a tad bit softer than usual. I feel that I compensate for that by upping the shutter to 1/60.

I have no way to prove this technically, it's just a feeling I have when I watch footage playback. I've found myself unhappy with some stuff when shooting 1/48 with an adapter... it seems too soft at times, too much blur, at least more than I'm accustomed to when shooting 1/48 on other mediums. Anyone else here feel similar?
