24p Sequence Settings plus Green Screen Q's

Hi!
I have been a DVX-100B user for a couple years now shooting almost exclusively at 24p (normal) letterboxed. I recently started shooting more 24p (normal) in squeeze mode. In FCP, I've imported the same but simple checked the anamorphic box in the sequence settings and I'm good to go. I shoot a lot of weddings and now have been hired to shoot green screen interviews. I'm always exporting one copy for DVD and one flash (or mp4) file for the web.

That being said...and not to complicate things but I've read a lot recently here and in other forums and will probably switch to 24pAdv mode so I can easily edit at 23.98fps...cause, well, why not.

My questions are for both 24p Normal and for 24pAdv (both in squeeze mode):

1.) In FCP Sequence Settings, should I choose "None" for Field Dominance?

2.) In FCP Sequence Settings, do I need to switch the settings to Progressive and 16:9 in the ADVANCED tab of the QT Video Settings section of that Seq. Settings box? I've sifted through so many posts but no one ever talks about that part of the Sequence Settings...not sure why.

3.) When I'm done with my edit, do I export straight to Compressor as I've always done or should I export the file using FILE>EXPORT>QT MOVIE>Self-Contained (current settings?) and then import that into compressor for output to DVD and also for flash files for the web?

4.) Regarding green screen work, I usually shoot in Squeeze mode at 24p (normal) and set DETAIL to THIN...is this the best way to capture green screen footage using my DVX for export at 16:9?

5.) Finally, I assume in compressor I need to set my fields to "Progressive" for BOTH DVD (m2v) files as well as mp4 web files, right?

Thank you all in advance. Feel free to be thorough in your responses! :)

Anyone?

See my questions in first post...anyone know about the DVX and its Sequence Settings in FCP???

(for both 24p and 24pAdvanced)

Thanks again.

1) don't manually set anything, choose the 24pA easy setup.
2) choose the correct easy set up, and then just check the "Anamorphic" box in the browser
3) self-contained first, then bring that into Compressor. then FCP isn't tied up and you have a "master" file to create any other exports from.
4) green screen is not going to be pretty with DV compression. but DO NOT shoot squeeze for green screen. repeat DON'T SHOOT SQUEEZE for green screen. shoot 4:3 (I'd do it without the letterbox) and then crop later. squeeze will introduce horrible artifacts when trying to key.
5) if you edit 23.976, it'll set to progressive automatically

Thanks bigbossbmb!

Just to clarify a few things...

1.) I don't need to change the advanced tab in the sequence settings to 16:9 and Progressive? It doesn't automatically switch to that.

2.) If my client wants 16:9 green screen do you think full screen mode cropped and enlarged to fit will look better than squeeze mode?

3.) Finally, when I export as Self-cont QT file, and then import to compsr my out put usually is a bit less rich in color and has a line across the top (1 or 2 pixels thick) of video distortion. I like not having to wait, but I also want the best quality export. Ideas?

Thanks again to all who want to help.

DVX User...

did you delete "Sequence 1" and create a new sequence after applying the 24pA Easy Setup? changing the Easy Setup will not effect sequences that have already been created.

yes, using squeeze mode will give you really ugly artifacts that you won't be able to fix.

that's really odd... about the color issue, are you using a calibrated broadcast monitor during editing/color correction? if you aren't, then there isn't an issue. what you see on the DVD (after compressor) is the actual color. don't know about the distortion.
