Hi Folks...Shot on Canon XH-a1 1080i 24p. Going to injest into FCP, latest verision as PRO-Res....Do I need to do anything as far as the Pulldown or does the Pro-Res transcode do that for me automatically. Thanks.

24p for 29.98 timeline. which means you don't need to do the pulldown. (for my DVX tho, not sure with 24f)

Hi

My question is kind of along the same lines here...
I'm not sure what this pull down is and am wondering if i've been making major boo boo's..

If I capture 25p (PAL) film cam etc
import in FCP and put that footage onto a 25 editing time line (the footage dumps onto that timeline fine, and doesn't come up with any need to render lines), obviously the footage doesn't need to be de interlaced.

Is that the correct way of importing 25p into FCP and editing etc because I haven't done any pull down.

Thanks

Indy

Thanks big boss...The Canon shoots what is called the 24p which I guess equates to the 24f. So, assuming I am doing all my shooting in 24p/f film like look and ingesting in ProRes, do I need to do anything else before I begin my editing? Sorry for the newbie question but I am still a little confused on this. Thanks.

Oh, BTW, I am editing on the latest FCP on a Mac of course.

Well per my research with Noah's DVD that I picked up, I wll ingest my 20 hours or so of footage (all 24p/f Canon XH-A1) with ProRes. Now my question is this. For those of you ingesting your footage with ProRes, are you using ProRes or ProRes HQ?

My final output will be to a DVD for my documentary but may be picked up eventually by PBS for broadcast. Will using ProRes HQ, cause a much larger hit to my hardrive storage than the regular ProRes..Thanks for the info.
