I've cut quite a few features, but this is my first 24p feature. I have received some miniDV tapes I've been told were shot 24p advanced anamorphic on a Panasonic DVX 100A. I chose what I believe to be the appropriate Easy Setup in FCP [DV-NTSC 24p (23.98) Advanced Pulldown Removal] I also selected the anamorphic option in my capture settings. I started logging and digitizing (FCP 5.0.4, PB G4, Sony DSR-11).
Some of the footage on the same tape appears to be digitized unsqueezed, some retains the anamorphic attributes after it has been digitized. I rechecked the original miniDV footage and it all looks anamorphic. When digitizing, I notice that sometimes the dialog says that it is removing the advanced pulldown frames on one clip, sometimes the dialog gives no indication that it is doing so on another clip. This is while digitizing several clips from the same tape during a batch capture. On top of all this, I get time code breaks that occur in the middle of takes, but that seems to be the least of my problems. The camera people insist they were using fresh tape stock.
