24p or 24pa?

Hello, I'm going to be shooting a 20min short film soon. I've already workshopped the scenes using 24p and edited with Premier Pro 1.5 with good results and made DVDs of the footage.
There might be a possibility of submitting this film somewhere, either in HD or as film out. Are there problems related to 24pa that I sould consider both in production and post?
If the film just goes to DVD is 24pa a problem? Please clue me in - Thanks Craig

When you shoot it's either 24p (f5) or 24pa (f6)
24p can be captured and edited at 29.97 and dumped to DVD or tape.
IF there is a realistic chance it might have to go to film the best bet is to edit in a 23.98 timeline. Thsi means shooting 24pa and doign an advanced pulldown removal on capture or shooting 24p and do a remove pulldown. (Depends on your editing software)
If pure 24 is the target then 24pa is easier and can provide a slightly better image.

The problem editing 24p in 29.97 is some edits are likely to fall on mixed fields. The cadence of the pulldown will also change with the edits so that it becomes difficult to convert this 29.97 cleanly into 24fps (for film) after the fact. 23.98 timeline can be used directly to film, 24fps dvd and has the option of having pulldown added for when you need regular video.

Thanks Scott, Premiere Pro manual says it supports 24pa and the footage I captured is listed in the properties cart as 23.98. I'll have to dig deeper into my Premiere Pro manual and test a bit.
If 24pa can be used just as easily, I'll probably shoot with it. That way I'm covered (you can tell I'm an artist first technical person second)
Thanks a lot - Craig
