i am considering making a skate video, and i want all the skaters' intros to be in 24p, but i am filming the skating in 30i.

if i put 24p footage on a 30i timeline, and 30i footage as well, how do i render it as 30i without messing up the 24p segments?

I assume you mean 60i and not 30p, right? "30i" is archaic and isn't used much outside Avid circles. "60i" is more accurate, anyway.

You'll have no problems -- just drop the footage onto the 60i timeline. It will retain its 24p aesthetic however you end up rendering. No sweat, no worries.

HOWEVER, as you know you'll be editing in 60i, shoot in normal 24p, not 24pA. You'll avoid the risk of extra stuttering if you do. 24pA is meant to be edited on a 24p timeline.

There is no such thing as 30i. Do you mean 60i or 30p? I assume you mean 60i in which case Vegas will insert 3:2 pulldown on-the-fly for the 24p footage on the timeline (assuming your project is set to 60i).

When you render to 60i you will not mess up the 24p segments; Vegas will add the pulldown to make it 60i. Assuming your final output will be watched on an NTSC TV, the 24p footage will look the same. Either you let Vegas add the pulldown or you let the TV add the pulldown, it doesn’t matter. In the end, the 24p footage will be displayed as 60i one way or the other because NTSC TV’s are 60i.

Guys,
I was watching a music video and they showed an effect whereby the model girls where walking (in slow mo) but before then, they where in some 60i frame slow motion and then changed to a 24p slow mo.
How do they do that?
