I am considering buying a DVX100A and I am a bit confused on an issue concerning editing 24P normal footage in FCP.
There are many posts spelling out how to edit 24p Advanced footage in a native 24P timeline. If I shoot in 24P Normal, can the footage be imported into FCP at 29.97 and then edited and output like 30p and 60i, without undoing the 3:2 pulldown? Several posts I have read say that it is necessary to undo the 3:2 pulldown in Cinema Tools, but is this only necessary if one is editing in a 24p timeline or is it also necessary to undo the pulldown for editing in a 29.97 timeline?
My projects will not be for transfer to film or progressive scan DVD, which is why I am considering shooting in 24p Normal instead of 24p Advanced. That being said, is it still recommended to shoot 24P Advanced, as some are saying?
Any advice will be appreciated. I believe that there are others who are also wrestling with this as I am.
Thanks.
