24p newbie needs help with importing 24p into FCP

Hi everyone
I've just done a full convert from using Premiere on a PC for ten years to a Mac and FCP. So please bear with me! Your sage advice is warmly welcomed.

I think I'm trying to do the impossible. I captured a shoot at 24p on borrowed a HD Sony and I'm now trying to find the best way of capturing it using a sony handycam (I know, sinful but it's all I have access to for a month or so.) I'm trying to maintain the 'film' feel and I'm a bit bamboozled by the capturing presets.
Am I trying to do the impossible by capturing 24p HDV via a poorly firewire handycam? Do I just wait until I can get my hand on a HD camera or has anyone got any tips??
Thanks...
mollymook

PS - I'm in Australia so I'm using PAL.

Cannot be done- HDV is HDV, DV is DV. You would need the same kind of HDV format camera or deck to capture that footage...

Another question... if I do import using the DV, which preset would you recommend so that I can retain my 24p 'film look'?
Sorry for all the dumb questions, but I am new to FCP.
Thanks,
