So I figured it was because I didnt have 4.0e but now I am wondering what settings give me optimal video quality and how can I condense clips so they arent so big (like whats a good format to set it to)
DV clips will always be the same size, 3.6 megabytes per second (about 200 mb per minute). You can change to a different kind of compression, but that pretty much defeats the whole point of shooting in DV in the first place.
As for importing/capturing 24P, there's really nothing to it: if you shoot in 24P mode, and you capture that file into Vegas, it'll show up as a 24P file. You have to have the option checked for "allow pulldown removal" and import your file into one of the DV 24P preset projects as well.
