24P in FCP

Before grilling me about not looking for an answer to this, I have extensively and I'm running on a very tight schedule. I was told that if I shoot normal 24p on the DVX that it would be compatible with a 29.97 timeline, but every clip I drop on I have to render completely. Any thoughts?
 
Sounds like your sequence setting is NTSC DV @ 29.97 fps. Was the capture settings for this media also NTSC DV @ 29.97 fps (because that's what's on the tape)? A clip will need to be rendered when the clip's capture settings do not match the sequence (timeline) settings.
