24p in FCP?

Working with interlacing in FCP seems like a bigger hassle than any other software. How do you work with 24p in FCP? I'm having trouble getting a straight answer.

Depends on your camera. Many cameras today can record a native 24p video signal, so there's nothing to be done on your end to conform the video to the 24p sequence. Some cameras record 24p over a 60i signal (e.g. on tape) and you may need to add a few extra steps to your capture process to properly remove the pulldown frames added to the signal by the camera. Here's an example: http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?23355-FAQ-How-to-digitize-24pA-footage-for-a-23.98-Edit

Yeah- that totally depends on the camera. But generally speaking any camera that can shoot true 24p can be edited as true progressive in FCP...

I had been working with a DVX, which appeared to be somewhat of a process to work with 24p. Now I'm working with an HVX.

Yeah the DVX is 24p laid down to tape with a pulldown at 29.97, so it definitely requires more doing to extract and edit properly. The HVX is native 24p to P2 card so those issues are much simpler- i.e. no pulldown to remove and deal with.
