24P in 29.97 Should I have to do the following...

I have the same old question of importing 24p into a 29.97 time line. In order for me to get my footage in the monitor not to look or appear to be interlaced I have to do the following;
  1. Right Click on the file and select "Interpret Footage" and check the box for "Remove the 24p DV Pulldown"
  2. Drag the file "AVI" into the timeline, Right Click, Field Options and select "Always Deinterlace",
  3. Then fuss with going back and forth with the Monitor in regards to "Draft" and "Highest Quality"
I don't think I should have to be going through all of this, I must be doing something wrong, or doing something I should have to. My Exports look like #$%@ and I'm not really proud of anything as a result of the interlacing. Mainly because everyone I show the clips to has heard my rants about how great 24P is. They're looking at interlaced... I know it, an can feel it let alone see it.

Note: I'm using Premiere PRO 2.O, and YES, it is 24P not 24PA, that was much easier to deal with. I may just have to go back to shooting in 24PA.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for any comments.

if you're editing 24p in a 29.97 timeline, you don't want to remove the pulldown. The interlacing is normal and won't be seen on a television. Just remember, shoot 24p if you want to edit in a 29.97 timeline, shoot 24pa if you want to edit in a 23.976 timeline. If you want to export to the web then it's fine to deinterlace.

ok if you are using pro 2.0 whats the problem? open premiere, choose the dvx 24 ntsc project and thats all uneed. Dont remove anything, it hsould work just fine...
i've been shooting and editing on dvx since 1.5 and i've had no problems working in premiere..now with 2.0 is even better

Thanks Kevin.
I think I'm getting allot of mis information however, I have to agree with everything I've read in Barry's Book. If in/shot 24p mode, timeline should be 29.97 and if in/shot in 24pa than 24p timeline. I just have a hard time dealing with seeing interlaced video in my monitor in PP2. I'll take your word for it, that I won't see the interlacing on a TV.
Thanks again.
