24P/FCE/drop frames problem

Hi there.

I have been having problems with capturing 24P footage from my DVX onto my FCExpress. I have been fed with conflicting information on FCE's compatibilty with 24P footage, so I'm hoping that you folks can straigthen things out here.

Anyways, every time I try to capture this 24P clip, after capturing for a min or 2, I get this error msg from FCE saying something like "drop frames detected from last capture" and I would have to capture it again. More annoyingly, my connection to the DVX is lost and I can't get it back. The capture screen says "NO COMMUNICATION". The first time that happened I figured my firewire fried up so I bought a new one. Even with the new firewire I have to play around with all my hard/software and just hope that my connection randonly comes back (and eventually it does, but what a pain!).:furious3:

FCE doesn't edit at 24 so I'm assuming you're shooting 24p andcapturing 29.97.

Try to capture to internal drive if possible rather than firewire drive.
Make sure you have plenty of disk space and memory.
Close any and all other programs.
Remove Norton if you use it.
