24p export problem - Premier Pro 1.5

Hi there.

I finished editing a short film in Premier Pro 1.5

The film was shot on the Panasonic DVX100b in 24p mode.

Editing was fine, as was playback, but when exported to tape, the film was jerky and had distorted audio.

I tried exporting it as a movie, then re-importing it into the timeline and exporting to tape again, but that just made it worse.

Any thoughts on why this is happening? My non-24p projects export to tape just fine.

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

I had that problem when I started shooting 24p normal: jerky playback. Once I started using 24pa....no more problems.

Thanks for the heads-up.

However, any idea how what to do about an exisiting project shot in standard 24p? Anybody? I managed to get in on tape using a crash recording, but there must be another answer.

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Premiere 2.0 is the first version to correctly remove 3:2 pulldown. I would download the 30 day trial version of 2.0, and open your project in there, then export to tape. 1.5 has major bugs when dealing with 24p footage, these are all corrected with 2.0.

Thanks Sacksnack. I'll try that today and let you know.

Cheers,

Peter

P.S. If it works, any reason to but 2.0 or should I wait for 3.0?

Premier Pro 2.0 is no longer available as a trial download.

The Adobe site is now focusing on Premier Pro 3.0 pre-orders.

Any advice on what to do? Hopefully it's not "spend $750 on the newest version".

Help.

Peter

I had this problem on a tv show I was working on. I finally recaptured my footage with 6.5 it doesn’t do pull down so my footage was now 60i and played smoothly. If you are going to fight the upgrades don’t go with premiere. I keep thinking I will jump ship and try vagus.

Thanks Ronbo.

I think I'm going to "jump ship" and go over to Avid Xpress Pro HD. I already have Avid Xpress Pro, but I normally use Premier as that is the NLE I started with.

Guess it's time to say goodbye to good ol' Premiere.

sniff. sniff.
