okay so here's the deal

shot 24Pa squeezed
captured anamorphic with advanced pulldown
edit in 23.98 timeline

NOW here's the weird part....when we use compressor to encode to MPEG2...it will encode at 23.98...okay no problem...but when we bring this file into DVD studio Pro suddenly it becomes 29.97

anybody have a clue?


now if we encode straight from FCP to DVD studio Pro it will indeed encode a file that is 23.98.....a true 24 DVD (skipping compressor)

compressor should work with DVD SP....don't understand the difference...or rather why DVDSP converts the compressor file to 29.97

somebody, anybody- tell me they have figured this one out

Sounds to me like you haven't set Compressor's preset to 23.98 in your MPG2 settings. Naturally, if you don't tell it the frame rate you want it will use it's own preset. Forgive me if this seems obvious and if you've already done it--just seems the most likely reason.

Just in case, under Compressor's presets options for MPG-2 -->Video Format tab, Set Video Format to 24p and see what happens. Otherwise, the default is set to auto and may be guessing incorrectly at your footage at 23.98??

And hopefully, you've updated to FC HD? 'cause it comes with more presets for HD and 24p for FC and Compressor
