im rendering out to 24p using a 24p timeline. ive got footage from a dvx at 30. when i render the footage, the 24p stuff is fine but the 30 comes out blurry. ive got the 30 clips set to disable resample. what should i do?

Are they 30p clips or 60i clips?

If they're 60i clips, you probably lost resolution which is impossible to avoid when converting to 24p.

Or, it could be that they're "blurry" because while you shot, you moved the camera too quickly and it doesn't look good in 24p.

In any case, I would leave the clips on "Smart Resample."

If you mean 30p footage, it rarely makes a good conversion to 24p, because there just aren't enough motion samples (only 30) to do it. You generally end up with ghosting around moving images, and a nasty strobe.

ill try smart resample. the 24p clips are fine, the 30 clips are wack. also dave do you use set ur 30 timeline properties to (none-progressive or lower field first)? i recently shot in 30p on the hvx and was wondering what settings to use.

FWIW - I upsample a lot of game footage (all progressive scan) with lots of motion in it. I've found I get blurry results if I use Smart resample. I like the results I get with Disable smart resample this this kind of footage. Maybe give that a try and see if it works better for you?
