24p and 24pA footage mixed?.

Not sure where to ask this... ???

Anyhow, I'm switching to Vegas as soon as it arrives, thus, the rest of my project will be shot in 24pA. However, I've already shot a scene in 24p (this was at a local fair, it was semi-gorrila, and I can't reshoot it.)

So... will I be able to convert my 24p fair footage into 24pA? Should I use AE, or will Vegas have some means of doing this? Or can I have a project of BOTH 24p AND 24pA in Vegas?

This is for DVD output, for festival consideration, so image quality to the 'trained eye' is a consideration.

thanks!

I hate AE!

I hate AE!

Actually started messing with AE last night, trying to convert my 24p file to 24pA... (SSWWW pulldown, upper field first)
...although all I have still is Premiere, so I can't really preview the files (although strangely enough, when I did bring in the converted files (24fps), they were 'altered,' apparently by Premiere, to be 30fps!)

Anyhoo, long-story-short, I hate AE, as it always degrades the footage terribly, no matter the render settings.

I really need a LOSSLESS and CHEAP method to turn that 24p footage into 24pA footage...

I actually posted about this problem 8 months ago, the last time I used AE, on the user forums... NO ONE could help me, and in fact, for months after, folks would email me to see if I'd every found a solution, as they, too, had the same problem and no one could help!

Re: 24p and 24pA footage mixed?.

Another update...

Just got Vegas up and running...Will try ALL combinations with AE, then will ALSO try importing/capturing original 24p footage, and see how Vegas' pulldown is...

...then will go with whichever is best. :-/ Oh well!

ps. Vegas interface is wierd!

The Vegas interface is "different", (I don't know about "weird"), but once you get used to it, you should find it so much faster to work with! I can get a job done in Vegas in about half the time it used to take in Premiere.
